When I was running the New York Marathon every year in the late '70's
and early '80's, my running watch was a Casio that was little more than
a stop watch. I pushed a button to turn the timer on at the start of a
race or workout and pushed the same button to stop it when I crossed the
finish line. Sports watches (as we called them then) have come a long
way. Garmin - the acknowledged worldwide leader in GPS technology -
introduced the first GPS enabled watches in 2003 with their models
101,201, and 301. All models (except the 101), and all subsequent
models, include a way to upload training data to your home computer -
now wirelessly.
Today, the Garmin Forerunner 110 is the basic GPS
enabled watch of the Garmin line. It's MSRP (with heart rate monitor) is
$229.99, but can be bought on Amazon for as little as $145.98 (without
the heart rate monitor). It measures how far and how fast you have gone
and wirelessly uploads the data to your computer and the free Garmin
Connect™ website - allowing more detailed analysis. You can even see the
route you traveled on a map. You can also get the optional heart rate
monitor and have your heart rate displayed and later, in the analysis,
actually track your calories burned in your workout.
The best GPS
watch for the tri-athlete with an unlimited budget is probably the
Garmin Forerunner 910XT with an MSRP of $449.99. This newest addition to
the Garmin lineup does it all. It can monitor everything about your
swimming, cycling, and running workouts. In the water - water resistant
to 50 meters - it measures swim distance, stroke count, stroke
identification, pool length, and, of course, the time of the swim. On
the land, it measures your time, distance, speed, pace, and elevation
data like ascent, descent and grade - using a built in barometric
altimeter. The touch screen bezel allows for easy scrolling and
selection of functions while on the move.
The ultimate answer to
the title question, "What is the best GPS watch for you?" depends on
your wants and needs and your pocket book. The Garmin Forerunner 110 is
more than adequate for the weekend athlete who just wants a little more
information about his/her workout. The Garmin Forerunner 910XT will give
the serious athlete more information than they ever imagined they could
have. Imagine checking your computer after a workout and tracking your
body weight, body fat, body water and 6 other measurements when using
the 910XT?

Where to Buy a Rolex Watch - An Increasing Trend in Online Purchasing
With all the rampant selling of counterfeit Rolex watches online,
those who are keen on getting the genuine watch for themselves are still
strongly geared on checking out these magnificent watches online. Why
so? It's the price difference.
The Rolex premium line of watches is known for the excellent quality it possesses, and this comes with a stiff price which makes it equally engaging. To say that a Rolex is status symbol is a cliché, because it definitely is. With the restrictive cost feature, everyone is on the search on where to buy a Rolex watch.
Online purchasing is no longer a threat to getting an authentic Rolex. Wise buyers know what they want and online sites that sell replica watches do not offer what they are looking for. The Internet has now evolved into an equal opportunity trading that the smart decision rests entirely on the client. Online stores are very transparent on what they are selling that deciding on where to buy a Rolex watch is no longer a problem.
Online stores offer as much as 45% discount on a Rolex watch and this is a huge savings for a genuine brand. Payment is also highly secured through encrypted pages to protect the buyer. To decide on where to buy a Rolex watch online, one can do some primary investigation on the sites' character by reading past reviews and performance. Reliable stores have a physical location with an address and contact numbers that can be verified.
If price and convenience are the criteria to place a real Rolex in one's arm, then one knows where to buy a Rolex watch.

Newcomers Guide to Buying Men's Watches
When
men shop for anything they are much more analytical that we gals. We are driven
by desire, while the male species leans more toward logic, so this article will
focus on what men might look for in a timepiece, but at the end of the day
these principles apply to what you would want in any high end, luxury watch.
When it comes to high quality, men's watches and women's watches should be
equal. Here are just a few of the factors you will want to consider:
• On
any high quality timepiece you will want a Sapphire crystal. A watch crystal is
much more important than most of us realize. The crystal is the looking glass
that we tell time through. If it is scratched, has glare issues, or is dull
looking...we negate the purpose of the watch. Most luxury watchmakers use
Sapphire crystal. It's true that Sapphire is the most expensive, but it is also
the most scratch resistant and will not shatter. The Sapphire crystal can also
be coated to be anti-reflective and anti-glare, making it the best and most
obvious choice. You will find that even moderately priced men's watches will
come with a Sapphire crystal.
•
Look for high quality materials. The way that some makers cut costs is by
cutting on the quality of their materials. Insist on solid metal construction
and superior components. This way your watch will last as long as you want it
to.
• A
great men's timepiece should have a Swiss movement. The Swiss are most famous
for their watchmaking because they are the most consistent in their quality.
The Swiss government actually has laws in place that regulate watchmaking in
that country. The Swiss-made label really does stand for excellence.
•
The brand name is not as important as the brand's reputation. If you're going
to spend a significant amount of money on a timepiece, make sure it is produced
by a respectable watchmaker. Many top designers offer watch lines, but if you
want a specialty piece, go directly to a dedicated watchmaker.
•
Make sure the quality is not left behind when it comes to the strap or
bracelet. This element of any timepiece is just as important as the watch
itself. Make certain that the bracelet is well made and offers a security
clasp.
